1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use CalorieQuest, we may collect:

account information, such as name, email address, login provider, and profile photo;
profile and goal information, such as age range, height, weight, sex, activity level, calorie targets, and preferences you enter;
meal and nutrition data, such as food entries, recipes, calories, macros, ingredients, meal photos, and edits you make to AI estimates;
health integration data, such as active energy and meal nutrition written to or read from Apple Health or Health Connect after you grant permission;
purchase and entitlement information for subscriptions, trials, or Pro features;
device, log, and diagnostic information needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

create and secure your account;
calculate daily targets and show nutrition progress;
analyze meal photos and generate nutrition estimates;
save diary entries, recipes, rewards, streaks, and preferences;
sync supported activity or nutrition data when you enable health integrations;
process purchases and manage access to paid features;
send reminders or service messages you request;
debug, protect, maintain, and improve CalorieQuest.

3. AI meal analysis

If you submit a meal photo for analysis, the image and related prompt data may be processed by Firebase AI or other configured AI services to estimate nutrition facts. You should review AI outputs before saving them because estimates may be wrong.

4. Health data

Health data is accessed only after you grant permission through Apple Health, Google Fit, or Health Connect. You can change or revoke those permissions in your device settings. CalorieQuest uses health data to support calorie-balance and meal-logging features.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers that help operate CalorieQuest, including:

Firebase services for authentication, database, cloud functions, storage, app infrastructure, and AI features;
Google, Apple, or Facebook when you choose social sign-in or account linking;
Apple App Store or Google Play for purchase and subscription processing;
legal, security, or compliance recipients when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

6. Storage and security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce agreements. If you delete your account, CalorieQuest is designed to delete your app data associated with that account unless retention is required or permitted by law.

8. Your choices

You can:

edit profile details in the app;
disconnect health permissions in your device settings;
disable reminders or notification permissions;
request account deletion from the app;
follow our Facebook User Data Deletion instructions if you used Facebook Login;
contact us to ask about access, correction, deletion, or other privacy rights that may apply in your region.

9. Children's privacy

CalorieQuest is not intended for children under the age required by applicable law to consent to digital services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent.

10. International processing

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Those countries may have data-protection laws different from your jurisdiction.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
